Tablet Replacement Guide

Tools Needed

  • Tablet removal tool with fishing line

  • Double-sided tape

  • Phillips Head #2 screwdriver

  • Cut-resistant gloves (recommended if tablet glass is broken)

Tablet Replacement Instructions

  1. Disconnect Power
    Remove the unit from power before starting.

  2. Remove the Existing Tablet

    • Put on cut-resistant gloves if necessary.

    • Using a saw-like motion, work the included removal tool with fishing line behind the tablet.

    • Carefully cut through the double-sided tape holding the tablet in place.

  3. Clean the Mounting Surface

    • Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol.

    • Allow the surface to fully dry for better adhesion.

  4. Install the New Tablet

    • Peel the backing from the double-sided tape on the new tablet.

    • Position the tablet so the camera is centered on the kiosk.

    • Press firmly to ensure strong adhesion.

  5. Reconnect Power and Cables

    • Connect the power cord and USB hub extension into the tablet.

    • Reconnect the unit to power.

  6. Test the Tablet

    • Open PatronScan.

    • Perform a test scan to confirm proper function.


Optional: Replacing the Charger (If Tablet Is Not Identical)

If the replacement tablet requires a different charger, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Charger Compartment

    • Remove the back panel (2 screws on each side).

    • Remove the 2 screws on the lower back and 6 screws on the bottom to access the scanner and power bar.

  2. Replace the Charger

    • Unplug the old charger and install the new one.

    • Ensure cables are properly routed and not pinched.

  3. Test Before Reassembly

    • Plug the charger into the tablet to confirm it is charging.

    • Once confirmed, reassemble the unit by reversing the steps above.


V4 Case Variation

For kiosks with the square stand and front-mounted scanner:

  • The process is the same as above, but the power bar is located in the upper portion of the stand.

  • Remove the 4 screws securing the top back cover of the stand to access the power bar.


Troubleshooting & Support

If the tablet does not power on, charge, or complete a scan after replacement:

  • Double-check that all cables are firmly connected.

  • Confirm that the new charger (if applicable) is properly installed.

  • Make sure the tablet is seated securely with good tape adhesion.
