Two-Stage Scanning (Recommended)
Two-stage scanning combines both barcode and flatbed methods to improve accuracy and reliability.
How It Works
- Stage 1 – Barcode Scan
- The system attempts to read the barcode on the back of the ID
- If successful, structured data is captured instantly
- Stage 2 – Flatbed Scan
- The scanner captures an image of the ID
- OCR is applied to extract and validate data
- Image is stored for record-keeping or verification
Benefits
- Increased accuracy by cross-referencing data
- Backup method if barcode is damaged or unreadable
- Provides both structured data and a visual record
- Reduces manual entry and errors
Best Practice
Enable two-stage scanning when possible to ensure the most accurate and complete data capture, especially in high-volume or critical environments.
