Two-Stage Scanning (Recommended)

Two-stage scanning combines both barcode and flatbed methods to improve accuracy and reliability.

How It Works

  1. Stage 1 – Barcode Scan
    • The system attempts to read the barcode on the back of the ID
    • If successful, structured data is captured instantly
  2. Stage 2 – Flatbed Scan
    • The scanner captures an image of the ID
    • OCR is applied to extract and validate data
    • Image is stored for record-keeping or verification

Benefits

  • Increased accuracy by cross-referencing data
  • Backup method if barcode is damaged or unreadable
  • Provides both structured data and a visual record
  • Reduces manual entry and errors

Best Practice

Enable two-stage scanning when possible to ensure the most accurate and complete data capture, especially in high-volume or critical environments.
